Like many others, we used our oven’s self-cleaning feature for the first time since we bought the house, and now we have no power, no panel, etc., and the oven door is locked shut. I have accessed the rear thermostat to try to replace that (waiting for parts), but recognize I will likely need to replace the thermal fuse located behind the control panel, and I can’t get to the screws on the control panel because the door will not open. I have tried using a coat hanger through a couple of the vents at the top of the oven door, but no luck. I am getting the parts sent in from this company (can’t find them locally), but I need to be able to get to the control panel, and thus need to unlock the door. I searched these posts, but other than a general reference to using a coat hanger or hook through the vents, I can’t find any specific instructions to open the locked door. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
