HELP WP duet drum not tight to door bellow seal

The drum on my WP front loader is not tight to the door seal. There is a suspension system that consist of two springs that support the drum from the top and 4 shock absorbers that support the drum from the bottom.

I removed one of the shocks and it is nothing more than a metal tube covered with grease that slides into a plastic sleeve.

I have already ordered 4 new shock absorbers, but I think the springs are sprung (stretched out) also. It looks like the washer is designed to have four springs but only two are factory installed. Do the higher end models have four springs?

Two springs are what you should have. See what happens after you replace the shocks and the springs.

I installed 4 new shocks and the washer doesn’t try to throw the drum out the side of cabinet anymore. The shocks are not very impressive compared to automotive shocks, but I guess the designers knew what they were doing. I still have the gap detween the drum and the door seal, but I’m going to live with it.

I also replaced the springs but I don’t think they needed to be replaced. I can always use some heavy duty springs for something…

Just when I thought I was done my wife yells at me that the washer was leaking like a sieve. I somehow managed to knock the airtrap loose, I re-istalled the airtrap and everything is ok now.

Thanks everyone,

Now the dishwasher is broken and the part will not be in for a month. Hmm what else is going to break?

Well, sorry things keep going wrong but glad you got the washer going. Yeah, those supports are pretty much garbage, but that is the appliance business these days.

Good luck with your dishwasher, and thanks for updating us.
