Hotpoint HDA750S-45BA does not advance from one cycle to the next - was stuck in same cycle and had to advance manually by turning knob. Water on bottom of liner around sump entrance screen. Took dishwasher out from under counter - drain solenoid blown out on side - hole in casing with coil exposed. I can replace the solenoid, but don’t want to spend more than that on this old appliance. Is replacing the solenoid a high percentage fix for this problem, or could there be another root cause that will blow the new solenoid? Someone told me to to look for bad plunger/piston/check valve parts - couldn’t find any of these parts. Thanks for your advice - will buy new solenoid if it looks like a good chance it will solve the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply - I’ll price the timer as well and make a decision to either fix or replace the unit. Much appreciated.
