How Energy Efficiant is this fridge?

Does any one know much about this fridge?

How old?
Is it worth replacing this with a new model?

It works fine so the payback (in energy savings) for buying a new unit will have to be worth while.

Next question, what does the cardboard backing do that is located in the back and bottom of the fridge? Look like it might seal a compartment where a fan is located.

Wife tossed it in garbage so I am currently with out it, but figure if needed I can "wing it" with card board.

thanks

If you have the hot dog shaped compressor, you are probably wasting $20/month on energy. New refrigerators use superior insulation, drops the power requirements way down.

only 20 bucks eh? OK, so no real reason to replace the unit then.
Sounds like it would take 8 years just to recoup the cost of a replacement.
I’m figuring that a replacement is going to cost around $1200 and up.
a la Home depot prices

any way to determine actual ratings, like what you see on the energy tags at the retail stores comparing this model to others like it?

any ideas on age and what the back cover does, how important?

thanks

The back cover is important to cool the compressor and condenser properly.
Your fridg sucks about 350 watts, new ones draw about 1/2 that.
