hi, i have a ge model jvm55001. i dont know how to get it off the wall. it looks like it slides into the case after mounting the case to the wall. but i dont see any way to remove the guts. todays units employ a mounting bracket, but this one appears to have bolts directly thru the back of the case which are inaccessible. It would be tricky and make a mess of the wall to cut the bolts with a saw after removing the upper cabinet. saving the microwave is not a priority since it long since gave up the ghost.
The GE site has copies of the user manual but now installation instructions. It was made in 1979
Any old timers here?
If its like the one I just took out JVM60001, I first removed the two screws on top of face on each end of vent. Then I removed the bottom as if I was trying to replace light…actually the bottom swings down to access light or change filter. Then off to right was a plate covering a connector to unplug so you can the grab the upper part and slide it out of its cage. Then 2 bolts hold cage to wall on studs. Bought my unit in 1981. Got great use out of it only had to change light bulb once. It still works but time for new one. I bet the new one doesn’t last half as long. The old one was built in Louisville Ky. New one is profile with convection…built??? Good luck … Mike
