Hi, we’d and appreciate your help. My husband replaced the seal in our washer. He cleaned everything up and inspected all the hoses and pump and whatnot. After putting in the seal he put about 5 gallons of water in the tub to test the seal. No water leaked out, so he put the machine back together, but only put the cabinet on loosely (in case).
He then started it up and everything worked just fine no problem, no noise or anything. After about 5 minutes when it started to agitate it started to leak again!!! What’s strange is that it seems to be coming from on TOP of the transmission (?) .He took the cabinet off and can see the leak but he can’t get under there to see exactly where it’s coming from but he says it’s a steady leak. He said it’s not a big stream, but steady.
He wants to know about the "spin tube" and if that could be the problem–is anything in there that should be replaced.
We know we got the right part, that’s not it.
We need to know which seal (according to the reference numbers on the diagrams) did he replace and how he did it.
Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool washer Model LA9480XWF2
Gene.
He replaced what’s called the "centerpost gasket", or the "main outer tub seal".
Says he got lots of hints from numerous websites. Took everything off and put new seal on. Used liquid soap to put tub w/ new seal back on.
We didn’t put the cabinet on yet so we could test everything–can we take the inner tub out and run a cycle?
If we run a low-water level cycle we might be able to figure out if it’s the seal or the top of the centerpost (?) spintube (?)
We read that to replace the bearing & seals in the spin tube you have to have a special tool & don’t know the cost of it. (Wonder if it would be worth it)
So we also wonder about prices on a new spin tube.
Update: We also found two holes in the centerpost of the inner basket but don’t think that should be the problem.
both rear burners not lighting… both fronts OK… spark at rears seems weaker than fronts… rears will light if fronts are burning…they will also light for a few minutes after fronts have been turned off , then rears stop lighting again…have cleaned all holes… HELP!
