Ice dispenser fine, water dispenser not

The water dispenser stopped working about 3 weeks ago, yet the Ice maker and dispenser in the freezer door works just fine. I replaced the valve unit, but the problem still remains.

I know it’s pumping, or allowing, water to go to the hose leading to the dispenser as there’s a junction at the bottom of the freezer door and water comes out of there with force, yet nothing at the dispenser.

I need to know how to remove the face plate on the Freezer door so I can gain access to the hose to replace it.

Anyone know how to do this??

Thanks!

Hi Rod,

Just to ad my 2 cents… You can find the instructions on how to remove the dispenser front panel in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/3710-whirlpool-ice-dispenser.html

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=55065&&model_id=249493

I finally got the front panel and main screws removed, but the dispenser won’t come out. Do I have to COMPLETELY disassemble the dispenser to gain access to the water hose?

Rod,

I’m afraid you have to remove the inner panel to access water line.

Ok, but I’ve looked under the entire seal and see NO screws to remove the inside liner.

HOW does one accomplish THIS one?

One wonders 1. WHY it froze up in the first place as we use it constantly. I’m not kidding, when I’m home I’m forever drinking water and my wife, who doesn’t work outside the house, drinks tons of water as well. So why would it freeze up all of a sudden??

2. There’s no way it could kink, not inside the door, could it???

Rod,

  1. I’ve learned that some questions do not have any logical answers.

  2. I do no not think so.

Probably you have to call a qualified technician to look into this problem.

I was able to pull a good portion of the hose out through the bottom of the door after detaching it from the dispenser (first take off faceplate and screws). At that point I was able to dislodge the ice and suck the water through the line. I’m sure not in the repair manual like that, but it worked.
