The flapper door on the ice dispenser will not open to fill the cup below. Everything else seemed to be working properly. The ice maker was was still making ice, when I push the cup against the dispenser on ice mode (both cube & crushed) the area behind the flapper door on the backside of the freezer door would fill up with ice; & the water would dispense when selected & pushed. I had decided that the most likely candidate for the malfunction was a bad solenoid. I order a replacement from APP.com
(invoice #2416324 - David Murphy - 145 W. 1st ave columbus oh 43201) However after I replaced the solenoid (making absolutely sure to reconnect it just the way it was disconnected) not only did the flapper door not open as I had hoped but now new symptoms arose; the screw inside the ice tray was no longer turning to fill the area behind the flapper door. When I disassembled the dispenser once more to check out the solenoid it was extremely hot to the touch and was not functioning. The plastic arm that connects to the shaft that slides up and down in the solenoid also broke. If you could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
