My Maytag in-door ice dispenser won’t stop sending ice thru the door. The soft pad was held in for an extended time to fill a large pitcher and now the rear freezer motor won’t stop running. If I open the door the motor stops, but once closed it keeps sending ice. So I unplugged the fridge and took out the rear ice auger motor from the freezer. FYI, the water dispenser button on front of door works fine. We just don’t use the soft pad. I’m considerring changing the control circut board in the door. Any confirmation or suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi.
Is the water comes from the fountain without the pad being pushed?
Simon.
The water flow works fine using either the pad or the front panel water button. There is no problem with the water flow stopping and starting. However the ice can only be dispensed via the pad. When the pad is set in ice dispense mode I could see, and hear, the actuator move by the auger motor. That was before I took the motor out. Currently when I press the pad in ice mode the only thing that happens is the small ice drop door within the door panel opens and shuts as expected.
The problem is just the rear auger motor keeps turning and won’t shut off. Thanks for your help.

Hi.
According the diagram and based on the info you provided the problem is most likely with the main control board, located at the compressor compartment
[part]2322547[/part]
But there is still a chance that the dispenser board is bad

You can get both of them and return the one you don’t need.
(Even if you installed it).
Here are the breakdown diagrams and 08-Dispenser Front Parts parts for Maytag MSD2574VEB10 - AppliancePartsPros.com
Post the results.
Simon.
Thank you Simon. I will order the parts today and post the results after I get it installed.
Steve
You are welcome.
Simon.
Simon, I received my parts yesterday but I didn’t get any installation instructions. Do you know where I can find install instructions for the 2 control boards that were delivered?
Thank you,
Steve
Hi.
To disassemble the fountain:
-unplug the fridge
-pull out the grill
-remove two screws behind it
-lift up and out the escutcheon from the fountain assembly
-disconnect the plug from the control
-remove the three screws holding the fountain assembly and carefully pull it out
To replace the main board locate it next to the compressor, remove the cover, using needle nose pliers squeeze plastic tabs to take the board out.
I installed the door panel control card 7 days ago and everything has been working fine. Using your instructions, it was a very easy install that only needed a phillips head screw driver.
I didn’t post this sooner because I wanted to give it some time to confirm that the problem has been fixed. Also, I did not need to install the main control card so I’m going to return that part.
Thank you for your help. Steve
You are most welcome.

Hello Simon,
The same problem returned last Sunday. Suddenly, the ice dispenser just kept running after pressing the soft pad to get some ice cubes. I had to unplug the fridge and disconnect the auger motor again.
I called Customer Service to request a new part expecting the old part to have failing. C.S. kindly sent me a new control board for the panel which I just finished installing. However, this time it did not fix the problem. The auger motor continues to run as soon as I plug in the power.
Here is one new thing that I noticed. I was dispensing ice cubes when this problem re-occured. But it automatically changed to crushed ice, and now it is only sending crushed ice. I tried pressing the cubed/crushed ice button on the panel but it did not stop the motor, nor change it from crushed mode.
Do you have another suggestion for me? I won’t return the new control panel card until I hear back from you. Could the new panel card be bad?
Thank you for your help. Please let me know if I can provide you with any other information.
Steve
Hi.
Try to switch the boards again, see what happens.
Then I suggest you to replace the main control board I listed earlier.
Simon.
Thank you for responding Simon.
I tried all 3 door panel cards yesterday and none of them stopped the auger motor from continueously running. So I’ve ordered the rear main control card which is currently being shipped. I will let you know if it fixes the problem.
Steve
Good luck.
Simon.
I replaced the main control card 7 days ago and it appears to have fixed the ice auger motor continually running problem. So now my fridge has the original door panel control card and a new main control card. It’s been working for a week now and I hope this permentantly fixes the problem.
This main control card was also very easy to replace. The control panel box cover is behind the fridge near the compressor, but it only has snap clips you can open with your hand (no tools required). And the control card only has one snap clip which can be released using one finger, so very easy to do the replacement.
Thank you again for your service tips and for saving me a lot of repair cost money.
Regards,
Steve
You are welcome.
Simon.
Hi Stevo,
I have a similar problem but only thing is that my ice dispensing does stop; however it always makes a mess cause it comes out very rushed and when you do let go of the switch it doesn’t stop dispensing right away!! there is about a couple of seconds lag that the ice keeps coming!!
Thanks!
I have a Maytag GS2326CEDW Fridge / Freezer. The ice machine has suddenly started spewing out ice and won’t switch off unless the freezer door is open. The light in the ice dispenser is also now on constantly and the off switch won’t work.
There was a burning smell, but this could have been down to the motor running constantly.
Is this a similar problem? And if so, what part do you think would solve it for this model? Is it possible to narrow down whether I need the door panel control or main panel control other than by trial and error?
Im not a DIY buff so any help gratefully received.
