Ice Maker Issues

Update -

So I didn’t get any responses to the post but I decided to try a couple of things on my own. I removed the ice maker from the freezer and let it completely thaw. The Fill Cup & Bearing Assembly (part 22 on the icemaker parts diagram for this fridge - diagram page 12) was completely full of solid ice when I took the unit out. There also appeared to be quite a bit of ice in the black end of water tube fitting that extends into the fill cup (part number 2 on the above mentioned diagram).

While the ice make was defrosting, I took a hair dryer to the water tube fitting to remove the ice. After everything was dry, I reassembled the unit and let it run. Water immediately filled the unit and pretty soon a fresh batch of ice hit the ice bin! Since that small victory, no more ice has been produced

There doesn’t appear to be any ice overflowing like in my original picture, but something is preventing ice from getting released from the maker. Any ideas? Should I just replace the unit? I would really appreciate some help on this one.

Thank you guys!

Hey Guys -

I have a Whirlpool fridge (GC3SHEXNS00) whose ice maker has stopped working. Water is flowing through the unit as we still have water available at the dispenser. It appears that the water supply has frozen over (see attached picture with ice over the black tube feeding the ice maker and the other iced over parts).

Anyone have a quick fix for this? Shall I just uninstall the ice maker, let it thaw and then re-install? If that’s the first step, can someone walk me through the steps to uninstall? The parts diagram isn’t as helpful as I’d hoped.

BTW - I used this forum a couple of years ago to replace the inverter box, fan motor and control board - huge success. Awesome site.
