Ok I get water from door fountain but Ice maker is not filling.
I assumed wrong that is was the solenoid’s. (replaced both sets still inop)
The Ice maker will keep cycling (turning like its completed its cycle) but without water Im out of luck.
I think I may need to replace the fountain control board part#61005274.
Can anybody confirm this is the issue?
If the icemaker is cycling and there is no water, you might want to check where the water comes into the icemaker, it might be frozen solid right there, preventing the water from coming into the icemaker. You said that you replace the water valve, so that should be good. If the water is not frozen in the water tube at the icemaker, I will tell you a fool proof way to find out if the icemaker is bad, but you need a volt meter to tell. What you have to do is just take the screw out that holds the water valve in place, with the power off of course, and put your meter on volts, and take the 2 wires off of the solonoid that goes to the icemaker, and stick your meter leads in each terminal,(Make sure the nothing is hitting metal) and then go to the ice maker, and take the front off, and on the icemaker front, you will see holes with a letter next to it. Get a piece of wire, about 6 inches long, and strip back each end, about a half inch, and stick one end in the M hole, and the other in the N hole which is right next to it, and then plug in the refrigerator, and the ice maker will start a cycle. Once it does count to a slow 10, and pull the jumper wire out, and the ice maker will continue to run through a cycle. Then go to the back of the refrigerator, where your meter leads are in the wiring harness, and at the end of the icemaker cycle, it should read 120 volts. If not, you need a new icemaker, if so, you either have a frozen water line or, no water. Let me know what you find. Tom
Ok I check things out, im not getting voltage then ice maker cycles through. (no Ice build up in the water line)
I decided to take Ice maker apart to see what could be wrong.
One of the heater rods that makes contact with its connection onto the controler board was a bit sooty and appeared to have taken a surge.
I cleaned this contact off can’t imagine what else is wrong with this maker. Maybe its a bad thermostat?
What on the ice maker switches on the ice maker water solenoid ? (the thermostat)
ok i should get my new ice maker tommorow.
However came home tonight and getting a clicking noise on and off every so ofter and stuff in freezer is going soft.
I think I’m going to need a new compressor starter relay.
Any thoughts anybody, or should I just cut my losses and get a new one (this one is about 7 years old)
Yes, replace the overload and relay on the compressor, and the start capacitor. If that does not do it, you would need a new compressor, which is pretty costly. I would not buy the icemaker, just yet. Lets see if we can get this compressor going. Also take a look at the condenser fan motor, and make sure it is working. Because if it died, it would make the compressor hot, and give it the condition of clicking off and on. Tom
Replace the overlad and relay switch, it came as a replacement assemble ($32)
I opened the old overload part and litterly the parts poured out of it ( id call that a clue). Frige and freezer cooling and acting normally again.
Received replacement Ice maker same day replaced it and with 24 hours I have a full bin of ice.
