Hi, all of of sudden ice maker stopped working. Water coming out for drinking water, once in a while an ice cube would kinda get stuck sideways and I could always clear out. Using previous posts, when I close flapper door, red light stays on for laser. Can I remove unit to investigate?
Close the flapper and the light switch. Optics led should go out, if not, you may have a bad optics board or a bad wire to the optics receiver board. If it stays lit it still could be bad optics or a bad wire.
To test the icemaker, remove both optics boards and place a thin wire jumper between the black and black/white wires going to the receiver connector. If the icemaker mold has no water,go in the back of the fridg and temporarily reverse the connectors on the dual water solenoid, close the freezer door and push the water switch for 7 to 9 seconds. icemaker mold should now fill with water. If ok and the freezer temp is below 15 degrees, icemaker should work. If not you probably have a bad icemaker. If not check for a frozen water line or a bad water solenoid.
