The icemaker on the Kenmore Elite refrigerator won’t work. The part of the icemaker containing the “fingers” is pushed out towards the person accessing the refrigerator. This has happened twice before, while under warranty. The first time the technician spent approximately 10-15 minutes and removed the icemaker, thawed it out, replaced the fingers and reinstalled. The second time he replaced the entire icemaker. It is now out of warranty and the repair cost is likely to exceed $200 if a Sears technician is called.
I would like help on how to remove the door on the front of the icemaker and, then, how to remove the icemaker. Also, prior to removing the icemaker, does the water have to be cut off?
