I was wondering if you could help me solve my latest problem with my Frigidaire MRS26LGJ?
The ice maker works. But I can’t get it to dispense ice cubes or crushed ice. When pushing the button to get either, the mechanism makes a noise, but nothing comes out. I open the freezer door, and open the ice bin door, and the ice is pushed from the back of the bin to the front of the bin. So I know the auger is working. It’s like a trap door is not opening to let the ice out. I removed the bin, and cleaned it. I did notice rust on the metal parts at the front of the bin. While the bin was removed, I manually checked the parts at the rear of the freezer to see if they were working. The drive spun, and the little door to the right of the drive, opened and closed (with a loud click), depending on whether I wanted crushed or cubed ice. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Jim,
Did the ice door in the dispenser open when you pushed the lever?
Did the ice cubes stuck in the ice chute on the freezer door?
Gene.
If you are talking about the little trap door in the ice chute, the answer is no. Ice doesn’t make it to the chute to get stuck.
The ice does move forward to the front of the ice bin, but doesn’t come out. It’s as if the ice is not dropping into the crushing part of the mechanism, ar getting past that part. Does this still mean that the driver blade which drives the ice dispenser is still stripped?

yes, see if you can rotate the drive blade while you hold the auger still if so the drive blade is stripped.
Thanks. That was the problem. Because the metal plate at the inside front of the ice bin was rusted, I decided to replace the entire bin. It arrived, I installed, and it now dispenses and crushes ice beautifully. Thanks for your input.
I just want to replace the entire bin! Rust is coming from somewhere and it dispenses out with the ice! It’s a pain!
I’ve had this refrigerator for about 6 or 7 years now.

I bought a new auger, but I’m having a heck of a time finding which drive blade goes with it.
The fridge is a kenmore 253.52649303, which is built by frigidaire.
I’m not sure if the drive blade AP3959143 will work or not.
#17 is the beast.
I have a frigidaire side by side refrigerator. The model number is glhs38eesb7. The ice moves in the tray but wont come out the door cube or crushed. I see that the auger is moving but the drum ice dispenser isn’t. Would you tell me what part I need to get. I don’t know if I need to get the drum ice dispenser or the whole thing. please help me.
Karlasmommy,
Remove the ice container, clean it wash with warm water. Make sure it’s absolutely dry and carefully put it back in place. Post the results.
Gene.
It still wont come out. I believe the drum is messed up. The auger turns but the drum wont. I feel I might need to replace the drum and the drum blade. What do you think?
Does the bar-drive (attached to the auger motor shaft) turn when the motor does?

Yes it moves. I can get ice through the door if I put ice in the drum. If I don’t manually put ice in the drum it wont give me any ice.
In that case the problem, most likely, is a bad solenoid.
Gene.
The drum is the round thing the ice goes in to go through the crusher blades.
I still recommend to check if the end of the ice container control rod goes into the solenoid guide right way.
Does the solenoid click in both (cubed and crashed ice) modes while the ice dispenser calls for ice?
