ice maker

The ice maker will not fill with water. The water dispenser in the door works. I can fill the ice maker with water and it will make ice. I can see the water in the line at the back of the refrigerator that goes to the ice maker. It just will not fill on it own.

Hi Mike,

Most likely the problem is with the water inlet valve. The valve has two solenoids - one solenoid is for the water dispenser and the other is for the ice maker. There is a small chance that the ice maker module may be bad, but sounds like the valve is what you need.

Water valve for your model

Note: Before changing the valve, don’t forget to: 1. unplug the refrigerator power cord 2. turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.

Hope this helps.

The motor is probably ok. The problem is either with one of the impellers or a foreign object inside the pump. You won’t really know until you take the top of the pump off and see what’s going on inside.

If the pump/motor seal did not break and the motor is ok, you can rebuild the pump using a pump impeller kit.

As far as your fourth question, I don’t think this type of a problem has anything to do with any specific dishwasher model. Same thing could happen to just about any dishwasher out there. Maytag dishwashers are not that bad at all (for the price).

It appears the pump is working but it won’t discharge the water from the tub
Anyone have any Idea what part I may need.
Is there a seloniod that should be closing off the other functions of the water pump?

thanks a lot

that makes sense
