To start… freezer temp is 0 and I check it every few hours during the day and it seems to stay near that so I don’t think the freezer compartment is warming up.
About every 10 days or so, after the ice bin fills up and shuts off via the paddle under the icemaker, a large icicle forms under the bin and the ice in the bin is melted into a solid block. A local repairman thinks replacing the main motherboard will fix the problem. He’s convinced the freezer is warming up. I’m not so sure.
I turned the icemaker off when it was nearly full and it’s been over a week and the ice in the bin is still loose and free. There is no water running into the icemaker. Nothing appears to be leaking.
Could it be possible that when the icemaker shuts off via the paddle, the ice making stops but a signal is still being sent to the water valve and every few hours water is pumped into the bin causing the ice to melt and drip down? Would replacing the icemaker fix this or would the motherboard still be involved in this process?
