Indicator On light stays on even when it is off!

Hi! I have Maytag MER5752BAB stove that is probably 8 years old. The other day when I was finished cooking dinner and had shut the burners off I realized that the indicator on light did not go off. I pulled the range out and unplugged it for an hour and then plugged it back in…indicator on light is still on! I am afraid to leave the stove plugged in so I only plug it in when I am cooking…thankfully the weather has been cooperating and I am sticking to the outdoor grill but I really need to fix this!

I am very handy and would appreciate any help in narrowing down the problem and then ordering the correct part for it! So, the indicator on light does not shut off on my Maytag MER5752BAB…please help!

Thanks!
Laura

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.

The hot surface light is controlled by the elements infinite switches.
Sounds like one of them is the problem re: the contacts in the switch are always closed keeping the light on.

Unplug the unit and then one of the infinite switches.
Make sure that nothing can short out.
Then plug it in.
If the light is off replace that switch.
If the same then move on to the next switch.

You could also just check the switches with a meter (if you have one) to see which switch is at fault.
