Jenn-Air JCD2389DES - Burnt wire connections

Fridge had a smell and some smoke from underside of unit. Removed rear cover to discover that the wiring to the relay/overload had fried. Replaced the wire harness and relay/overload kit. Plugged in after confirming all connections were tight. The fan came on for a split second and spun to a stop. Power seemed to be on in the rest of the fridge (i.e., lights on in fridge, ice/water dispenser on). Compressor did not come on from what I could tell. Do I need to leave it plugged in for a period of time until the compressor comes on? How do I know if the relay, capacitor or the compressor are bad? Any recommendations for next steps?

Thanks!

Check if there is 120 VAC between the Blue and Orange wires to the compressor.

If there is no power, check the temperature control (#3 on th [B]diagram for continuity.

If there is continuity, check for 120 VAC between the Red and Blue wires at the temperature control.

If there is no power and refrigerator was On for more than 30 minutes, replace the adaptive defrost control (13 on the [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47457&diagram_id=632661)).

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47457

Thanks for your help. Turns out that I just had to leave it plugged in for awhile (~5 mins). Fan came on and then the compressor. Seems to be working fine now.

When I activate the heat mode everything looks normal for about 3 seconds, then the lights dim on the control panel where I can see the timer still running out. The unit does not heat. There is the same slight humming sound which would be normal when in operation.
