jump out the out-of-balance switch?

We have a 23 year old Amana washer (barely broke in)

The out-of-balance switch assembly is badly worn and keeps slipping apart. I’ve looked at replacing suspension springs but new are not available. Replacement levers, arms, springs for the out-of-balance lid switch mechanism are no longer available.

I’m reaching the point where I am disassembling the top to get at and reset this mechanism. I am considering taping the switch closed to avoid this agrievation.

Anyone with a better suggestion? Or do we shop for new?
