Kenmore 80 series washer EXPLODED!!!

[B]OK, Sorry guys It didn’t explode but my wife will if I do not get this fixed soon lol I want to thank Gene, loginfreak and lazer dog fir all the advice so far!

I have replaced the Motor coupling (for direct drive washers) and put everything back together and everything seems to work great but it will not stop filling up with water, could I have damaged something? I was very careful. Could it be something I didn’t hook back up? Have you ever come across this before?

Thank you very much for your time

Rob

Unplug the power cord while it’s filling, if it doesn’t stop, the water valve is bad.

If it wasn’t doing this prior to you making the repairs you have, I would suspect maybe you knocked off the water level switch hose. It’s the hose that goes from the water level switch down to the side of the washer tub. If it came loose it would sure cause the machine to continue filling and filling.

Hi Frank,

I will try unplugging it, Does the hose come from the pump? Do you have a picture of what it looks like? Or is it obvious?

Thanks again

Don’t know your model # but below is a link to a direct drive Whirlpool machine similiar to yours. Look at the tub picture and you’ll see a hose, I believe it was item 19. It goes from the side of the tub up to the water level selector switch. I would suspect it came loose from the switch, not the tub, other wise you’d have water all over the floor as it was filling.

Now the agitator works, it fills up and drains but now when it begins to spine the washer shakes all over like it is out of balance.

WHAT NOW!

Thanks

Is it sitting solidly on the floor? The rear legs on this model are self adjusting. If you lean it forward and drop it back down they should adjust themselves. If you didn’t undo any of the suspension parts there really shouldn’t be any reason it should act any differently now then it did before. Could it just have been the load that was being done? How’s it act empty?

If you weren’t so far away, I’d come fix it for you in exchange for one of those beautiful dogs!!!

Hi Frank,
Yes it is sitting on the floor level, I put a level on it and it is sitting pretty level. We didn’t touch the legs, we tried it on a large load and it shook like crazy. Then I tried it with a light load, same thing! Then I tried with nothing and switch the washer to a delicate load, better but it still would shake like crazy if I put it back to heavy duty load.

Oh ya How far are you lol …

Take care and any other advice would be great…

Thank you

Rob
