Kenmore 90 Series - NO spin, agitate, or drain

Ok, wife and I got this washer off a "lil-ole-lady" that barely ever used it for not even a full load, maybe once a week or something like that. It’s not very old, maybe 2 years or so I am thinking? We’ve had it about 3 months, and this is the second time it’s quit on us. The first time, I was able to track down the problem via one of these boards, it was the coupling, which i ordered from Sears and replaced myself, although I will admit the revised part had metal sleeves where the plastic drive pieces go on the arbors of the motor and the worm drive to the drum, and I know i didn’t get them on as well as I probably should have, but resolved that problem within a day or two. Now the problem we are having is the washer filled with water, and apparently never even started to agitate, manually moving the timer to spin and drain cycles ended with same result, the motor makes a quiet humming noise, but does not engage the drum or the pump, it never spins, on either end. I now have it drained by pitcher, and propped up where i can work on it, taking the pump off and putting channel locks on the drain pump arbor, I can manually turn the motor, though it seems difficult to turn considering the last time it broke, i was able to grab the coupling by hand and turn the motor(i think). I am sincerely hoping someone here has some advice, can’t afford another washer(not even a craigslist one) right now, and certainly can’t afford a repair man :frowning: Must have laundry done since the kids start school this week and my job depends on me doing my own laundry and coming to work each day dressed ready to go. Thanks for your time all!

Quick Update: 10 minutes later, and after reading another post… Having the Washer already propped up to expose the undercarriage, I disconnect the pump, and engage the timer to spin mode, and the drum and arbor that would be turning the drain, both turn, though weakly and slowly, if i put the drain back on, it’s apparently too much strain for it, it doesn’t turn at all anymore. While I wait for the experts replies here, I am going to remove the motor again and see if it’s possible that I installed the coupling in such a way that it has began to bind down on the motor and prevent it from doing it’s job.

yep, as I said I suspected, tapping the coupling arms onto the drum and motor ends a bit better completely solved the problem, running the first true test load now, fortunately for me there was no apparent damage to the coupling, I can only hope the same can be said for the motor. I feel as though I should have prevented this problem from the start when installing the new coupling about a month ago, but, perhaps my Sunday morning spent on the floor, and time well wasted, is a blessing in disguise for someone else, I can only hope that my misfortunes will assist someone else from making the same mistake. Have an excellent day all!
