Kenmore dishwasher leak

4/21/2010 12:47 CDT
I have a Kenmore model 17532200 dishwasher. The water inlet allows water into the dishwasher without any water hammer. There is a leak (minimal) at the water inlet (FSP 8269240). I have replaced the gasket between the inlet and the dishwasher wall but the leak persists. How can I stop this leak? Maybe RTV caulk inside the gasket perimeter?

Erwin,

Most likely there is too much pressure in the water line. Try to close the water shut off valve for the dishwasher slowly turn by turn until the leak will stop.

My supply valve is a quarter turn ball valve. I barely cracked it open and the leak happened anyway. My tub is made of plastic if that makes any difference. At the present time, I have extended the wiring, drain line and supply line so I can test the dishwasher out in the open to make trouble shooting easier. Any other ideas?

Erwin,

You can try a silicone caulk outside of tub.
