Kenmore Electric Overheats ONLY on MED/HIGH

Hi all…Strange problem. Dryer wasn’t getting clothes dry so I took the top/front off and pulled out a TON of lint/hair from the blower fins. Cleaned it up and put it together again. Now, running it on MED or HIGH overheats the back top of cabinet to over 170 deg. Can’t even put my hand on it. Took it apart again, no short in heating element. I was thinking burned out thermostat EXCEPT that on low heat it doesn’t get overly hot. Seems to me that if it was a ruined thermostat it would stick in the on position no matter what heat level.
On no heat it delivers no heat.
On low heat it delivers low heat and the cabinet stays cool.
On med or High 170 degree too hot to touch top of cabinet ONLY over the center back. Rest of top is warm but not hot.
Front-lint filter, electronic front panel, heating element is coiled large circle type. Vent is clean, Forcefully blows 123 degree hot air when disconnected from vent tube. Vent tube is aluminum.
Any help would be appreciated!
