Kenmore Refrigerator Not Working

Hi Everyone,

So far looking around this forum I am finding a lot of good information for other appliance that I have. Good to learn about this stuff.

I am puzzled when it comes to my Kenmore Refrigerator. Model number is 795.69293.901 and my wife and I bought it with the house back in December 2013. Refrigerator is about 5 years old from what I can tell.

Yesterday I was doing some light installs on my porch, garage and kitchen. went to the breaker box and switched off the power to the porch, garage and kitchen. Installed all the fixtures that were needed and turned the power back on. Everyone came back on as planned except for the refrigerator.

Went back down and shut off the breaker for the kitchen and turned it back on just to reset the power just in case and still nothing. No light on, no motors running, no power getting to the unit.

Ran an extension cord from another room to the fridge and still nothing. Tested the outlet with a meter to make sure I am getting power and yes power is running perfect to the outlet.

That is all I really have on this problem. Can anyone even guess what is going on here? Called a couple repair places yesterday and only one call me back. Of course they do not service this unit but he explained it probably is the main circuit board?
I went on Sears Parts online and found the part but isn’t the board and the light completely different? If the board went bad wouldn’t the light still be coming on?

Any info on this would help. Sears is coming out later this week but going almost a week without the fridge is going to suck. It is our only refrigerator unit and have 2 small college fridges plugged in running the show for now.

If you go to the Sears parts site they have part breakdown diagrams which they do not share with other vendors.

The unit is actually an LG and I do not have a cross reference for tech data.
It is hard to find LG tech info and Sears does not share any info.

I would say that odds are good that the control board is shot. Looks like it is at the back of the unit.

Might be best to wait for the service tech.

I would recommend that you get an appliance surge protector.
This plugs into the wall and then the fridge plugs into it.
A 1000 joule unit is recommended but a 750 joule will do the job if you cannot find a 1000.
They are available at most appliance stores Home Depot etc.

This should give the unit some protection from voltage spikes on the line.
Most electrical codes call for the fridge outlet to be a separate line but it sounds like yours has other circuits on it.

Thanks. I removed the back panel last night to see if the fuse on the control board was blown and both fuses looked fine. Even if they were blown they are attached to the board so it needs to be replaced anyway.

Guess I am out of ideas and just have to wait for the tech to come out. Thanks again.
