This dryer developed a problem where it might run for 10-30 minutes before shutting off. When it stops, it has to cool down for a time before it will start again. If you push the start button and it is not ready, you hear a buzzing sound.
About a year ago, I was investigating this problem, and in the process turned the dryer at a 45 degree angle to the wall. In this position, the dryer had no problem. I put it back parallel to the wall and it stopped working. I turned it out 45 degrees and it worked.
"I’ll figure this out when I have the time"
One year later, I decided to push it up against the wall because this 45 degree thing has to be some kind of random superstition. The problem came back. That was about a week ago. Since then, I’ve only got one load through in a single try.
The vent is not clogged. I took the back off and can not see lint anywhere lint should not be.
Last time I was working on it, I found that if you were barefoot when using the dryer, and the dryer had stopped and didn’t want to start, and you had a hand on the dryer, when you push the start button, you get shocked. Fun!
I also found that if you unplugged the dryer and plugged it back in, the dryer would reset its state of not wanting to go and would run another 10-20 minutes before stopping again.
If this were an overheating motor, would unplugging the dryer cause it to start again?
I’m really not sure where to go with this, and I would like to know where to find a wiring diagram and a troubleshooting guide.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
