kenmore washer won't start

My Kenmore front load washer won’t start. All lights come on but it seems it can’t sense that the door is locked. Striker appears OK, it feels locked. I replaced the door lock assembly. Same issue continued. It won’t go into diagnostic mode. Is this definitely the control panel? I bought the machine in 2005, replaced the control panel in 2009. If these control panels only last about three years, rather than spend the time and money on another control panel I’m inclined to buy another machine, obviously of a different model.

This would seem to be a control unit issue. I agree with your thinking, however, about getting a new machine. If you do not need a front loader I strongly recommend buy a basic top loader. Your problem results from having electronics in the machine. They are not necessary, do not enhance performance and only cause trouble.

I bought the control board from you. When it arrived it wasn’t the part I was expecting, I looked it up and there are two parts named control board for this unit. One is the white box in the back and the other is the front panel electronics. What arrived was the box in the back. I swapped it out, no change in the issue. Is the part I really wanted the front panel "control board" or is there something else going on here? Replacing the machine isn’t as easy as I thought so I’m trying to fix it.

At this point I tried the door lock assembly and the control board (white 8" x 8") in the back and bottom of the machine.

There is a main control unit and a motor control unit. I think you need the main control unit.

Those of us who reply on this site are volunteers and not connected with the parts operations of APP. so contact them and talk about what you got. They will accept returns if you have the wrong part or if the part you ordered does not fix the problem.

Thank you for the reply, I’ll try the control panel next.
