Keypad is dead

Hi, this is my first post so I apologize in advance for any goofs…
The lights on the keypad started going out a few months ago. I was still kind of able to figure out what I was choosing though. Yesterday it went complete dead so I can’t do anything anymore.
The plastic strip that feeds it is crunchy, stained, discolored, and otherwise looks like crap. I’m assuming that is the problem but before sinking $150 into this older dishwasher, I wanted to see if maybe it was something else. I am able to test the voltage of the pins feeding it but don’t know what is correct. I would appreciate any help you could grant me.

The part is: Part Details - GE Keypad, part number: AP3794761

Also, how do I replace this keypad? It looks to be glued in place. Do I pry it off and glue the new one in? If so, what solvent would I use to clean the old glue?

Here are some pics:

Thanks,
Ben
