Kitchen aid Dishwasher Problem

I have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that has been acting strange. Here are the symptoms:

  1. The red lights on the push button control panel will sometimes flash randomly. All lights will flash in no specific order. This problem is not consistent. Sometimes it will happen multiple times during the week and sometimes it won’t.

  2. Recently, the dishwasher never stops. I can start it in the evening and then get up in the morning and it is still running. This morning, it started by itself. About 2 hours after I got up, it started running. I could tell by the condition of the dishes that the machine never got through a complete cycle.

At the moment, I am suspecting a bad control board and push button panel. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can look at or test? Just the cost of these 2 parts cost almost as much as a new dishwasher.
