We have a dryer that within the last year replaced the motor and it has worked like a champ ever since. Today the dryer wont:( I can hear the timer ticking, when I push in the button to start it, it clicks like its supposed to. I took the panel off the back and when you push the button you can hear kind of hum but nothing works. Is this an issue with the termianl fuses that I heard some of you talk about? Or should I check somewhere else for the problem? Any help is greatly appericated!! Thanks.
The drum doesnt turn at all.
I answered that in a hurry and now that I think about it maybe I should clear this up. The drum will turn manually but it will not turn under motor power. When I push the button to turn it on, the switch is what lightly hums not the motor.
The motor isnt what is humming though. THe button you push to start the dryer is what is humming. The motor doesnt make a sound.
Anyone else have an idea as to what the problem is??
Open the door. Have someone help you by pushing the door switch, simulating a closed door. As you push the start button, have your helper rotate the drum to see if it will begin to tumble. If you are able to do this, replace the motor. Please post your results.
No go, do you have any other ideas as to what it could be??
Thanks for all the replies!!
Does this happen in all the different cycles?
Yes, the dryer doesnt work no matter where I have the settings.
Is there any way to check to see what one is broke? If its the motor again we will probably just get a new dryer:( but if its the timer we would probably fix it and run it till she dies again. Thanks for you help!!
You can pull the cover off the timer and check for badly burnt contacts.
Washer agiated thru wash cycle partly emptied out, moved dial but will only agiate no noise elsewhere.
I replaced the timer but it did nothing. Could it be the pump.
Thanks

first thing to do is to start the machine at the begin of a wash cycle if it don’t agitate check the motor coupling if it agitate you a bad lid switch.
you can disconect the lid switch and put a jumper on the connector "for test purpose only" to see if it work after finish and work remove the jumper and replace the switch it is the for safety reason
