KitchenAid dishwasher taking too long

Starting the machine in a "regular" setting with the energy saver dry feature on and the status light says 71. As the load cycles through, this number gets smaller, meaning to me that a load should take 71 minutes. Well, two hours later and the load is still going, with the number down to about 10 or so. Where do I start to figure out why it’s taking so long? It doesn’t seem to be the heater as there is plenty of heat coming off the plates when I open the machine.
Thanks in advance!

Jim,

First thing to check,

Your hot water temperature, the reccomended temp. is 120 dgrs F., in the tub, on the first fill.

"Your energy saver dry" setting, eliminates the heater cycling in the dry cycle, you still have sensing and thermal holds, during the wash cycle.
