I have a KTRC22EKWH01 KitchenAid Refrigerator that the ice cube maker is leaking into the chamber causing huge ice jams. The ice cube maker is still working and putting out ice cubes however do I replace the unit itself or is it likely one of the water valves causing the leaking which is causing a huge mess?
In order to troubleshoot so far I’ve run a multi meter check on the inlet valves and get a reading on both the water valve and the inlet valve - readings are anywhere from 80-180. Since both valves read about the same how do I know if EITHER is a problem? I’ve also noticed that there is a paper-like substance flaking off into some cubes. It appears to be coming from where the motor joins the unit - perhaps some type of dried out adhesive??
Water flow rate on the fill line is about 10 secs to fill 1 Litre (1000ml) so I think pressure is ok? The dripping is occurring at both ends of the ice maker - both at the very front and the very back below the fill tube.
Any suggestions are much appreciated as to whether I should be looking at replacing the valves or the ice maker kit itself or something else to look at??
