I can’t for the life of me detach the dough hook from my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. What should happen is that you push the attachment upward, turn it, and it comes off. There’s a spring there that collapses when you push upward. The dough hook won’t push upward. It’s just locked into place.
I ended up taking the machine apart so I could get to the planetary, which is where the attachments connect. There is a gear that attaches a rod to the planetary. It seems like removing that gear and the rod would release the dough hook, however the gear won’t budge.
I took the planetary/dough hook mess into an authorized Kitchenaid repair place and the manager of the store was so snotty about me trying to repair this on my own. It’s not on warranty. He told me I have to replace the whole mess and that he could order a new planetary, gear, rod, dough hook, etc. He also said that the planetary has to be "pressure mounted" and that can only be done by the authorized repair guy. I still have no idea what pressure mounting even means.
I got AppliancePartsPros.com to order the parts and the new yellow planetary is like $60. That part is absolutely fine, though. If I could get the gear out, it seems like I should be able to replace the gear, rod, and dough hook without getting a new planetary.
I’ve took a picture of the whole mess, which includes dried dough on the dough hook. 
Can someone advise me on whether I need to replace all the parts shown? Is there a reason I can’t get that gear to budge? If this weren’t such an expensive appliance, I would have taken a hacksaw to that gear by now.
Suggestions? I’ll take the whole thing into the snotty guy’s store if I have to have it pressure mounted, but would rather save myself that humiliation.
