Latch is loose & will not latch

My momma-n-laws dishwasher door latch is loose and will not latch. I dissasembled the door to inspect the latch. It does not appear broken. I inspected the catch on the tub side and it looked alright also. I could not see anything broken and put it back together. I then closed the door and the latch worked. I opened it back up and reclosed it but this time I had to push on the front panel underneath the latch to get the latch to work. I then tried again and now it will not latch at all. Is there a way to adjust this latch. The only part I can see that might be adjusted is the catch on the tub side but it only has one screw going up through it. Any help will be appreciated.
