Lower Shaft Seal on Gear Box Hotpoint Belt Driven

How do i get to the leaking seal on my transmission/Gear Box? Its Leaking all my Oil out. Its a Old One But its still a Really Good Washer, Bought it Brand new Washer & Dryer Set 18 Years ago. Never have had NO problems;) Until this Seal started Leaking. Please Help me if you would maybe theres a Video or More on it, I could’nt find any. Thanks Everyone Have a Nice Day. wyocwboy:confused:

Spread a rug on the floor and turn the washer upside down, losten the motor, remove belt and tranny pulley. Remove the four spring friction pads and the subframe. Pry off the old seal and push in the new one. Rather messy job, but doable.

Thanks Richappy for your Expertise help on doing this myself,Is there anything while i’ve got the pulley off that might need replaced while i’m doing this? Like Excessive wear on something? But it is hard to find parts for this Old of a Machine, But i have found some on Here Appliance Parts Pro, The Seal for that was one thing availible. Thanks wyocwboy

There is something you could do. Before replacing the seal, add a bit of 90 weight gear oil in the pulley hole and use heavy emory paper and sand the subframe tabs the damper pads rub on, will help the washer from shaking too much in an unbalanced load

OK Richappy, Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated. wyocwboy
