I replaced the two cartridges on my Jenn Air cooktop. My problem is that there is a short on the one side. I bought the wiring harness to replace it (where the cartridge plugs into) but it appears that the only way to get to the harness is to take the entire cooktop out of the counter. Can anyone confirm this?
Yes. This is true. Look under the cooktop to see if any clamps are used to secure it to the counter. Remove them if there are. Lift the unit out of the hole after disconnecting the power. Depending on the amount of room you have, you may be able to turn the unit slightly to rest it on top of the counter across the cut-out. You will have to remove all the screws holding the unit together, as well as any knobs that may be on top of the unit.
It isn’t rocket science, but you need to be organized in your disassembly, so you won’t get lost in the re-assembly.
Thanks for your help
