Maytag 2000 Series Washer has no power

My two year old Maytag 2000 series has no power and the door is locked with wet clothes inside. It kicked the breaker. I reset it and it kicked it again. After resetting it this time I cannot get the washer to come on. I changed and used a different plug (with an extension cord) and still am getting no power. Several months ago it kicked the breaker twice but immediately started working again once I fixed the breaker back.
I don’t know what to do from this point. I need to release the door to get my clothes out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong with my washer?

We really cannot help you without a model number, but it should be on the back. In the meantime call Maytag’s customer service number and they should be able to tell you how to open it up and get your clothes out.

When the machine totally shuts down like yours has done it is probably the control unit.

Sorry, when I originally posted this the door was locked and I wasn’t able to see any information about the washer. My husband was able to open the door and get the clothes out. He also took off the top and noticed that the cord was installed incorrectly. It was running behind the drum and when pulled tight causing the drum to rub against the cord. Eventually it rubbed through the outer coating and broke the wires causing the breaker to trip. I am thankful it didn’t cause a fire.

That’s great, well great that you found the problem, bummer that you had it.

Maytag used to be great, now, well you have experienced now.

Thanks for updating us.
