Maytag Bravos washer - removing water trapped below the tub

I have a Maytag Bravos washing machine, model MTW6600TB0. It recently stopped at the drain cycle and displayed an "LD" code on the display and all of the lights on the wash cycles selector panel were flashing red.

I did some online research and found that the "LD" code stands for "Long Drain" and usually indicates a problem with the drain pump - typically some kind of clog such as loose change, socks or other small clothing items.

I removed the clothes that were in the middle of the wash and wrung them out by hand. Then I drained the inner wash tub using my shop vac. I turned off the water supply, disconnected the water inlet and drain hoses, and removed the back panel of the washer.

I can see a visible, substantial amount of water trapped below the wash tub. Online repair guidance says to tilt the washer forward to access the drain and refill pumps. I am stymied on how to do that without creating a flood as I do not know how the trapped water will act when the washer is tilted forward. Does anyone have any tips or know the procedure for draining out the trapped water before the machine is tilted forward?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
