Maytag Centennial drains but no spin

I have a Maytag Centennial (Commercial Technology) Washer and Dryer. It was purchased March of 2012. Now 2 months after warranty expires it is malfunctioning. The wash cycles starts normal, drains, fills, rinses, but will not go into spin cycle after rinse. For the last 2 weeks, i was able to put into drain and spin cycle and it would work. Now it wont. It just starts to pump water out then sits there. Please advise.

Normally with these symptoms this would be a clutch problem, but given the age of the machine and the history of your problem it sounds more like the timer is the issue, or some wiring to the motor.

Try replacing the timer, but first take off the connectors to the timer and clean them with a good contact cleaner, and reseat them. Sometimes that is all that is needed.

The secret to being a self-sufficient do-it-yourselfer is utilizing resources. In my apartment building, when I have a problem with the washer, I call Mac-Gray’s customer service department. We also have a Maytag.
