Maytag dishwasher not drying

Our dryer hasn’t been drying for about a week now. I ran the diagnostic on the heating element and it doesn’t turn on at all. I’m not convinced it’s the heating element, so I then broke down the dishwasher to view the control board. On the back side of it, I noticed a small burn (soot-like) area at one of the solder points, maybe 1/2" in diameter. I’m guessing this is not good; I’m trying to determine if the board simply shorted out or if something else caused it.

Also, I just read this thread:

The bottom of it does an excellent job of describing they symptons. Not drying, much longer cycle time, etc. I did have the recall work done on this about 4 months ago, but I’m sure it’s been working fine up to the last week or so. Perhaps coincidental.

Thoughts? Thank you.

The first thing I would do is check for continuity the heating element and the hi limit thermostat (#16 on the [AP2644587](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=667878&&model_id=47138"]tub break down diagram[/URL]).

If any of them is open, it has to be replaced.

If there is nothing wrong then the problem is a bad control board.

In order to provide the right part number for the control board and the heating element I need the serial number of the dishwasher.

Gene.

Washer cyle operates normally until it goes to rinse. Then it stops completely,if you play around will the dial a bit you may get it to rinse but then it stops again before the rinse cycle. I have gotten it to work a bit by going to the 2nd rinse cycle and playing with the knob until you hear the timer working, in the 2nd rinse cycle you then get the washer to spin and drain. My husband is fairly mechanically inclined and has fixed the celinoids ? on our dryer before. so could you offer advice on what needs fixing , how to fix it , and what parts are needed. We are more than willing to buy the parts thru you.

Sincerely,

Nicole Jones

Jack if you need help when you get the part, either come back here or go to my website, and I will walk you through the repair. I believe the hardest thing will be getting the knob off. If your timer has a plastic pin in the center of the timer, you need to grab it and pull it out some to release the dial. If you need us let me know. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

Thanks for the reply, I am sure that I will need your instructions. If I read this right your web site is "ApplianceEducator.com"?
