Maytag dishwasher stops filling then shuts down

Maytag dishwasher MDB5600AWB fills then stops. It won’t go into wash cycle. It may not be filling all the way. But when it stops filling, instead of starting the wash cycle, it sits quietly then powers down. I’m assuming it’s a time-out feature after a period of inactivity? Hitting the start/cancel button does drain the water. Drain pump checks good. New door latch. I’m thinking a faulty water inlet valve, or control panel. Ideas?
