Maytag dryer MEDC200XW0 powers down midcycle, always approx 19 to 21 minutes after starting in high heat timed mode. Checked components with meter and they were ok. Thermometer at vent shows temp cycling from 125 to 164. Seems a bit high as 155 is the expected value. Both times dryer stopped was during the cool down from 164 and from 155. Another video recommended replacing the lint chute seal to lower the temp a bit? The lint chute seal is somewhat flattened but still in place. The other seal was worn and dirty and I replaced it. Drum turns ok by hand. If I restart the dryer immediately it will then fail in about 10 minutes. If I wait a few minutes, it will fail again in about 20 minutes. Dryer is about 5 years old. Is it for sure a bad motor? Or anything else I might look at? The heating element coils are a bit dark in color, almost black. Is that normal?
