maytag dryer tripping gfi

My dryer tripps the gfi outlet when i advance the timer knob past off. any help?

It may just be a weak GFI outlet. The "master" outlet can protect itself plus three other "slave" outlets. The breaker inside it can weaken over time. If you can have an electrician test it, that’s where I would start the diagnosis.

thought that too but washer is plugged into same and it works fine. tried plugging into to different outlet and same. Doug

Do you have an amp meter?
Does it do the same thing whether the heater is on, or it’s on "No Heat"?

just tried that. it runs fin when the temp slider is to no heat, air fluff. but as soon as i slide it up to add temp it blows. Think it could be the igniter? i’ve had it go bad before but it never tripped the circut. could one of the temp sensors b bad? would they trip the circut?

Well done! You saved yourself at least $100 on a service call.
