maytag dryer

I have a maytag washer and dryer set. the dryer does not want to start and flashes 8.8 on the screen if I set to timed dry instead of sensor dry and set it to 41 minutes it seems to start almost every time. don’t know what would cause this I do notice that the resisters on the back see hotter than they should be. also I have a washer that matches and it does not always drain the water but sometimes it runs fine. check the pump and water pressure sensor and both seem to be working fine. don’t know what would cause it other than the circuit board. any help would be appreciated
