I have a Maytag Performa PAVT454EWW. Single belt. Multi speed. I can agitate and drain, but cannot spin. While on the spin cycle, the brake is engaged. If I hold the agitator, I get a slow spin, no brake. I can slow the spin by hand, turn by hand, etc. as until I release the lid switch. I depress, I get the agitator, but no spin.
Can one direction of the motor be burnt out? Thoughts? Diagnostic tricks?

Hello . Yes the [part]AP4024680[/part] can be burnt in one speed , and since you are having the burn smell is the most likely problem you can also check the [part]AP4009132[/part]thrust bearing which also deals with the spin this is where I would start. thank you and good luck!
