Maytag Quiet Series 200 - Dirty Dishes

Hello…

I have a Maytag Quietseries 200 Dishwasher that is leaving a lot of dirty dishes lately {last few months} and seems to be getting worse. I did a bit of reading on this and have checked a few things.

  1. I took out and inspected the sprayer arms and they appear to be clear and functioning properly.
  2. I started the dishwasher and let it run for about 5 minutes. After this I opened the door and checked the water temp/level. It came in around 120 degrees and the water level was about 1/2 / 3/4 up in the water basin. It looks to be a decent level but I can’t say exactly what level it should be at. It is a little bit below the heater element {I can measure if needed}.

We get our water from the city water supply so we never really had any problem with mineral buildup, and I have not made any changes to the water heat in the recent past. The dishwasher has worked reasonably well up to this point but I am not quite sure what to look at /try next. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :slight_smile:

Since the wash has slowly gotten worse I would check the filters first.
The water temp seems a little low but that is dependent on cycle type but it is a possibility. You did not say if the dishes are drying OK.

Thank you for the resources on this. I will take a look at the filter and see what I find. As for the dishes… they do dry nicely…jut a bit dirty
Maybe I am asking too much :slight_smile:

In either case I’ll post what I find. Thanks again…

Ok… According to the household committee {wife and daughter :slight_smile: } the dishwasher is working much better. For others searching…here is what I did.

  1. I took the washer motor assembly apart down to the chopping blade and cleaned out an assortment of crud that was clogging things up.
  2. I turned our water heater up to 130 degrees and finished putting insulation on hot water pipes from the heater to the dishwasher {yeah I know I should have done this sooner… what can I say…long honey do list :slight_smile: }
  3. Found that the over pressure filter was not even in the dishwasher. I don’t ever remember it being there… the only thing I can figure is there was a cap on this and it came off. In any case I’ve ordered one.

I still suspect that the water level may be bit low so I am going to keep an eye on this. If the dishes still are dirty after a week or two I will also replace the water value.

Thanks again for the help and resources…they were very helpful :slight_smile:

Well I stripped it down to the motor and found all kinds of crap down there. I also took out the manifold and cleaned it out c/w upper and lower wash arms.

Works buch better now…thanks again for all the assistance! Greatly appreciated!!
