We have a leak from our freezer. Typical stuff, lots of water and ice on the freezer floor. My husband swears it’s coming from the top, see pic 1. I don’t see how that’s possible, the water line for ice maker comes in on the other side. Can someone please tell me exactly where the drain tube is on this model so I can check that?
That is why there is always a great women in a succesfull man’s life. You are right. You have a clogged freezer drain. I am sure you have a sheet of ice on the floor off the freezer. You have to take the freezer back panel off, and knock the ice out of the pan, and get the blow dryer out, and defrost the drain hole. Throw hot water down the hole. When it drains out you know you got it. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com
Got the panel off. Here’s another question. There was a big piece of what appears to be clear tape filled with plumber’s putty wrapped around where arrow is pointing. Is that supposed to be there?
Picture of tape/putty also attached.
Yes, I would rewrap it. You might have to add a little plumbers putty. It insulates the suction line accumulator. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com
Thanks again. Cleared it out last night and no water this morning, so it appears everything is working fine.
That tape and putty had fallen off where it was wrapped. Some of the putty came loose and it was all over the coils and some had fallen into the drain tube. I think that caused the start of my problems.
This is at least the 5th repair on this fridge in the 8 years we’ve owned it. It’s been the most unreliable applicance I’ve ever owned.
