Maytag Washer

I purchased a Maytag washer in Oct 2003 and it is now leaking when water is in the spin. I was told today it would cost 540.00 to repair. I am really confused after reading all of this information. I did not allow them to fix as I felt it was time to move on. I have spent little money on this machine for any repairs. Should I FIX? I am totally confused on what to replace it with. Does anyone have any suggestions. JH

I would remove the front panel and check where the water is leaking, most probably from the tub seal. If so, the estimate is about right.
To replace the tub bearing, you need a bearing puller and other expensive tools. Considering the sad history of this washer, it’s probably not worth fixing.

Thanks for your response. Any suggestions for washer dryer that has a better history? JH
