Maytag won't agitate & skips other cycles

Maytag washer fills, sits and at the very end of timer, spins and empties the washer. It did agitate once but stll skipped a few cycles.
The timer motor is working and advancing. I’m assuming that it’s ok. How can I check the drive motor and can it still be the motor even though it does spin at the end? Thanks.

I ordered the timer online today from AppliancePartsPros so I’ll let you know as soon as I get it up and running. Thanks again.

I also have had the same problem with mine I am interested in the print.

The print is in the manual at the blue link in the first reply.

The timer came today and I installed it. As soon as I plugged the washer in it blew the fuse in the main panel. The timer looked the same other than it uses a different knob. I reinstalled the old timer to see if the fuse would blow again but it didn’t. Upon examination I see that the timer motors and the connection for the harness are wired differently. The old timer is #M-520 and the new is #M-520-3. Hopefully ApplianceParts Pros will exchange it.

Well, sorry that happened.

We are not part of APP but my experience is that they are a very good company and I feel certain they will get you the right part.

There are a lot of variations in your model, so be sure and give them your serial number when you re-order/return so they can get it right.

The customer service lady checked both my model and serial numbers and said it should be the correct timer. Besides the shaft where the knob goes being different and the internal wiring and the #3 added, it also is marked Magic Chef instead of Maytag. I realize that they are all one now but somebody made a change somehow. She’s supposed to email me back after talking to the research people.

Yes that’s the number with (22001538) next to it. The Maytag washer model # is LAT9235AAE and serial # isA0774136 MH. The research folks said this is the correct one but it’s not the one they show in their parts list which is the one I need. The new one also has a Magic Chef sticker on it. Besides a different shaft, the timer motor is wired differently. I took pictures of both and maybe I can try research again. Hopefully the pics worked here. Thanks again.

pic of the shafts. The one on the right is what I need.

See if this matches up with what you have

That sure looks like it. Many thanks and have a great holiday season.

Good, there are two timers specified for your model, don’t know why they had such a hard time with that. This one is a few bucks cheaper, so they owe you some change.

Have a Happy Holiday Season and let us know if this finally gets going.

I finally got another timer from APP and it appears to be the correct one. The boxes both have the same number so the other one must have been mispackaged. Anyway it seems to be working. Thanks for all your help and have a safe and Happy New Year.
