Maytag won't spin or drain

Need help diagnosing problem…

My Maytag model LAT9457BAE top load washer won’t spin or drain.
Symptoms…

  1. Timer moves thru entire cycle.
  2. Lid switch appears to operate correctly. (i.e., agitator stops when lid is opened.
  3. No humming sounds or burning smells.
  4. I can hear faint sound of timer ticking when spin or drain cycle should be going.
  5. Both belts are in-place.
  6. Hot and Cold water fill to proper levels — no over-fill.
  7. Drain does not appear to be clogged. Removed drain hose from wall outlet and was able to drain water into a bucket placed on the floor.
  8. Wash/Agitate cycle seems to be working OK. Agitator moves CCW.
  9. Same symptoms whether timer is set to "Light" "Delicate" or "Heavy" setting.

Wiring diagram is available online(http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=49327&diagram_id=28440572), but I’m not sure where to start testing based on symptoms described above. Any Suggestions? Does this washer have an "out of balance" switch? — Some forums mention this OOB switch as a possible problem.

Need help Soon! Wife is threatening to buy a New Washer.:frowning:

Thanks!

You need to take off the front cover and see if the motor is turning when it is supposed to be spinning. If it is, or trying to turn then the transmission could be the problem and if so plan on that trip to Mr. New Washing Machine store.

For a while mine was stopping when it got to spin cycle and i would have to force it to finish. Then it would only work in one cycle and Now it wont spin or drain at all.
What part do i need ?
Everything else is working fine and Everything has been cleaned.
