My Maytag top loader washer would not stop filling up with water on the full load setting. I heard water that sounded like a water fall and went to investigate when I realized the water was still flowing and running over the tub and flooding my floor. I quickly turned the water off by pushing the knob in and it stopped. I tried putting on spin to drain, which it did begin to drain. I went to start it over and it continued to fill. I was in a bit of a panic since my washer is on the upper level of my home and it was full of nice heavy soaking wet blankets. I decided i would try the partial load setting and that seemed to work. So it does stop on my partial setting but not the regular large setting.
I would really like to fix it til I am financially ready to purchase a new one. Plus as I said before, the wash room is on the top floor of the house and is a stressful task to get one out, down a large flight of stairs and out the front door. Definitely in need of large muscle bound men for such a task.
Any help on fixing my washer would be highly appreciated.
